    JUNCTIONVIEW TO CLOSE ITS DOORS

The Junctionview Studio in Grandview today announced that it would be shutting its doors at its current location at the end of April 2013. A bittersweet message was posted to http://www.junctionviewstudios.com/ to make the announcement. Read through the message below to find all the details on the final Agora event (Agora X) and the Junctionview Moving sale. Our hearts at Spoonfeed go out to the artists who have worked to create breathtaking pieces in that space, and we hope they all find a new home to continue their craft.

Over the past several years, Junctionview Studios has been home to a multitude of creative individuals and host to dozens of great events.

At the end of April 2013, Junctionview Studios will close its doors.

Since the purchase of the building by Nationwide Realty Investors, the tenants of the space have known that this site would eventually be redeveloped as part of the Grandview Yard Project. Nationwide has served as a very upfront, honest, and helpful landlord over the past several years. For three years we have worked with them in a positive fashion and now it is time to move on.

While some may view this as a sad event, we would prefer to look at it as part of the road to progress. Tenants of the building will find new homes in other arts buildings and add to the momentum that is taking place in the greater Columbus arts scene.

We invite the public back for two events to celebrate what Junctionview has been over the years.

On April 13th, Agora X will be our swan song! We will open our doors to the artists and art lovers for a day of excitement and a chance to celebrate art, music, and community. More details are available at www.agoracolumbus.com

On April 20th, Junctionview Studios will hold a Moving Sale. This is a great chance for artists in the building to sell any unwanted art and supplies to willing buyers. More details about that event are available at www.junctionviewstudios.com

DANE TERRY HELPS INTRODUCE GARDEN THEATER BAR “STAGE LEFT”

At times, there were not enough seats for all of the people passing through the Garden Theater’s brand new “Stage Left” bar as Dane Terry took to the piano to play songs both newer, and older. Dane was sure to keep things lighthearted by telling stories of how particular songs came to be, but kept the jokes close at hand, and the smiles in the room very wide. Dane was a true entertainer in this sense; he kept the attention of the room through his songs and his conversation. While the atmosphere of a bar usually promotes side conversation, loud joking and laughing, everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks while staying engaged with what Dane was doing. While singing Dane barely ever looked down at this hands. However when he did, he was doing something amazing. It was hard not to get wrapped up in how fast his fingers would move, and even from my little seat in the back corner I caught myself leaning at awkward angles to catch a glimpse of the man at work. It’s a good day when Dane Terry makes an appearance in town to play somewhere, so the next time he rolls through the Short North Stage/Garden Theater on N High St, be sure bring a couple bucks for a glass of wine and a sour attitude. Rest assured, he’ll turn it right around.
